Ellen DeGeneres will be co-producing a new NBC sitcom about a lesbian and her straight male friend who have a baby together, right before he meets the love of his life.
The comedienne and television show host who came out about her sexuality on the sitcom Ellen is now returning to the world of sitcoms in the capacity of an executive producer. DeGeneres will be teaming up with her former co-writer for Ellen, Liz Feldman.
Feldman (2 Broke Girls) will be writing and executive producing the show. She has also written for DeGeneres' talk show and her script for her first time playing Oscar host.
DeGeneres' A Very Good Production and Warner Bros. TV, and AVGP's Jeff Kleeman will also be excutive producing the show.
DeGeneres also signed on earlier in October to produce an NBC comedy series and film that will center on Sophie Grace and Rosie, the talented and adorable sisters she discovered and made popular via her talk show.
The two girls shot to fame when DeGeneres first brought them on her show in 2011 to sing their cover of Nicki Minaj's Superbass.
The cousins, 10 year-old Sophie and 7-year-old Rosie, will be the lead characters of the primetime comedy show.
The direct-to-video film, which is also being co-produced by Warner Bros., will be written by Erik Patterson and Jessica Scott, and directed by Brian Levant. The cousins will be playing versions of themselves in a plot wherein they are sent to be correspondents at a royal coronation, in which one of three princesses will be chosen to lead the country. The two girls will help the best candidate win.
