Fans of Netflix's House of Cards suffered quite the scare when one of its former producers stated that the program wouldn't be exceeding its upcoming sophomore season. However, it now appears more definitive than ever that the hit series will be pressing forward with additional future installments of the political drama.

According to Deadline on Oct. 26, the company's chief content officer, Ted Sarandos and the rest of the top brass are in the midst of ordering more episodes of House of Cards.

"Our intent is that the show keep going for sure. It was a 26-episode commitment. It was not our intent that it run for two seasons," he said.

Amid the increasing popularity of the online-only viewing platform, Sarandos also voiced his disapproval over the current film system, which he feels is going against consumers' current wants and needs.

"Theater owners stifle this kind of innovation at every turn. Why not follow with the consumer's desire to watch things when they want, instead of spending tens of millions of dollars to advertise to people who may not live near a theater, and then make them wait for four or five months before they can see it?" He added.

Following its initial launch in February, HoC became an instant success, as it went on to receive nine Emmy nominations, including a victory for director David Fincher in the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series category.

While no air date for House of Cards has yet to be determined, the show is projected to start its second season at some point in early 2014. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest news on the popular series.
