Agents of SHIELD may not be new tonight, but Marvel will be reaching back into its vaults to pull out an old face for next week's episode.

Titled "FZZT," the series' sixth episode will reintroduce the character of Agent Blake (Titus Welliver) from the Marvel short film Item 47.

Taking place not long after the Avengers' Battle of New York, the Louis D'Esposito helmed project deals with a world in which Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) is still presumed to be deceased.

Now that Coulson is very much alive, Blake will aid his team as they try to uncover the identity of a murderer who leaves victims floating in midair. The character's reappearance could signal one of two things.

First, the writers for Agents of SHIELD could use this opportunity to divulge more information regarding Coulson's miraculous recovery. Since Item 47 started off with a conversation about the Agent's death, perhaps Blake will be able to elicit some new answers from Coulson, or at least jog him memory a bit.

"He lived in a world in which Mr. Coulson was dead," said executive producer Jeph Loeb, according to TV Line https://www.spoilertv.com/2013/10/latest-from-tvline-various-shows-17th.html . "And that will certainly play a part in his visit."

Another possible ramification from Blake's inclusion could deal with the type of threat Coulson's crew is currently facing. The last project viewers saw Blake involved in had to do with human remodeling of a Chitauri weapon. Could the same type of technology be behind the recent antigravity deaths?

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
