Howard Stern Blasts American Idol Judges Again on Ryan Seacrest's Show
Howard Stern blasted at American Idol's judges "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" Monday for not being critical enough.
"I feel that you guys brought in on ‘American Idol’ Jimmy Iovine because you needed someone to be more critical. That J Lo, Steven, and Randy aren’t really being too tough,” Stern told the show's host Ryan Seacrest.
"You’re doing a disservice to the contestants if your not going to be honest with them!” he added.
The comments come as Stern promised to be a "strict judge" on the new season of NBC's "America's Got Talent," which returns today at 8 p.m.
"I'm going to be a strict judge. I don't want to go buzzer-crazy, but I've got to stick to my guns. We've got to find the best talent," Stern said according to US Magazine.
This is not the first time Stern gives his opinion about American Idol judges.
Last week in an interview on the "Today" show he told Matt Lauer:
"I watch 'American Idol' sometimes, and those three judges, they don't have a word of criticism, and I think that's selfish," he said of Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. "I think you owe it to the contestants to offer criticism."
Stern has a one year deal to be judge in the show. Recently he has made several appearances on TV and radio stations to discuss the new season.
