CSI: Miami was cancelled after ten seasons, CBS announced Sunday, to the disappointment of many of the series' fans.

Fans of the series starring David Caruso as lieutenant Horatio Caine, turned to Facebook and Twitter to express their outrage at CBS. Some of them signed a petition to bring back the series stating that CBS did not give it closure during season 10's finale.

"We need a closure and we also need a season 11!" the petition posted on Twitter read.

"Why has this show been cancelled!! i have watch it for 10 years. you all deserve the right to finish the story lines of these characters!!" a CSI: Miami fan said on Facebook where the series has more than 15 million likes.

On Twitter it has more than 110,000 followers.

"I can't believe CBS is cancelling this show! I will miss it soooo much! Love these characters! You screwed this show by giving it a time slot that always got pushed because of football or whatever else! Truly loyal fan will really miss this cast!" another Facebook user said.

In a statement Sunday morning the network said:

"'CSI: Miami' leaves an amazing television legacy — a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’ rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers — led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of 'CSI: Miami' in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come."

The network will apparently leave the original "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," as well as the other spinoff, "CSI: NY," reports the Orlando Sentinel.

CBS canceled freshman shows "A Gifted Man," "NYC 22" and "Unforgettable." It also canceled "Rob" according to a report from Deadline.com

In the other hand it confirmed another season for "Two and a Half Men," with Ashton Kutcher.
