This season's "The Bachelorette" kicked off tonight with Emily Maynard stepping out of the limo with a beautiful shiny sheer dress into a mansion in Charlotte.

Before being introduced to the 25 men, she had a brief chat with host Chris Harrison. She told Harrison, "I am so nervous... This can be the night that I meet my husband.. that's really exciting." She added, "obviously I want that more than anything. "

Harrison asked her, "You were scared to do this in the first place.. why?"

Maynard replied: "I was scared just because I've been through a lot. I've been in love twice and I've lost it twice. I fell in love with Brad hard and I really genuinely thought that was it."

When Harrison asked her about her tragic story, referring to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick (with whom she was engaged to before he died in a place crash in 2004), she replied saying she doesn't want to talk about that anymore. "I don't want to talk about the past anymore. I've moved on. Its always gonna be a huge part of our lives. We have a daughter together. She's always gonna be a reminder of what I don't have. But it's a good reminder. I see things that she does that reminds me of her dad and its awesome."

She also spoke about her daughter, Ricki. "I'm very protective over her and I want to protect her throughout this experience. Being in Charlotte.. it's gonna help a lot. I can wake up and make breakfast. I can do all the everyday mom stuff."

Harrison asked her how she sees herself five years down the road and she replied, "a minivan full of babies." Maynard was not shy to express how much she wants a big family. "I want it so bad. I want to be in love. I want babies. I'm tired of being engaged. I want to be married. More importantly, I want the perfect person to share that experience with."
