Several fans of ABC's hit crime series, Castle, were surely saddened on Monday to see Castle (Nathan Fillion) and his daughter Alexis (Molly Quinn) facing a disconnect in their relationship.

Although there are surely more than a handful of loyalists who think that Alexis should return home already, others are more than likely happy to have witnessed her taking a stand against her crime novelist dad.

Andrew Marlowe, the creator of Castle, recently dished to Entertainment Weekly on Alexis' qualms, which he says has a lot to do with the progression of Castle's relationship to his future wife Beckett (Stana Katic).

" I think both girls are polite, so I don't think fans should expect a yelling match. We don't like to go soap here - 'You stole my father!' 'You're being immature!' I think we present a more sophisticated version that's, hopefully, just as satisfying and moving," he explained.

In an Oct. 14 interview with TVLine, Katic stated that the current rift between Alexis and her character's fiance is strictly between them.

"I think that this is a matter for a father and daughter, and a daughter knows that no matter what the father is, he's going to be the same, in spite of the fact that he's entering into a new relationship," she said.
