To the satisfaction of the Sherlock masses, the BBC network has rolled out the first official image from its third season of the hit show.

The photo, which was posted on the BBC One Facebook page, shows Watson (Martin Freeman) sitting down and looking dismal with a cup of jo while Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) is on the other side of the glass.

"It's been a long time since Sherlock Holmes jumped off that roof - it's time to reveal the truth about what happened between him and the pavement,' said writer Steven Moffat.

In other Sherlock happenings, Moffat had previously spoken about the show' newest villain, Charles Augustus Magnussen (Lars Mikkelsen), and how the production is nearing completion on its season 3 finale.

"It's almost finished, it's almost out of the cutting room. We've drawn from that story [of Charles Augustus Milverton] but, as ever with our show, what we draw and how we do it and how we find equivalences, [you'll have to wait and see]," he said.

Sherlock will be making its return to television in the U.S. on Jan. 19 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. While its U.K. release will be happening sooner, an official date has not yet been announced.
