Philip Phillips drove the girls in the audience crazy on American Idol's Top 3 show when he sang "We've Got Tonight" by Bob Seger.
Phillips performed the song Wednesday night wearing a black shirt, pants and a jacket while sitting in the center of the stage.
Several girls – on the verge of tears – were shouting and giving Phillips a standing ovation as he sang the lyrics
"Turn on the light, come take my hand now/ We've got tonight babe/Why don't you stay?
His performance got a standing ovation from the judges as well and Jennifer Lopez spoke about the song’s impact for his female fans.
"There are about 20 million girls out there who wish you were singing that song to them," Lopez told Phillips, triggering a big smile from the singer.
"It was very sweet just like a lullaby," she added.
Her comments were echoed on Twitter:
"I just wanna say that I wanna marry Phillip Philips," one woman wrote on her Twitter Thursday.
Randy Jackson said it was the "perfect song at the perfect time," and said it was Phillips’ best performance ever.
"You just showed you got all that passion inside of you and it doesn't matter if you hit the notes or not its about the passion, you just nailed it you are over the top," Steven Tyler said.
The other two songs he performed were "Beggin'" by the Four Season (chosen by Steven Tyler) and "Disease" by Matchbox 20 (own choice).
