Joshua Ledet's Elimination from American Idol 2012 Sparks Negative Reactions
Joshua Ledet's elimination tonight on American Idol sparked several negative reactions on Facebook.
At the elimination show tonight, the first to be declared safe was Jessica Sanchez so it came down to Ledet and Phillip Phillips.
Fans of the TV show were either surprised that Ledet was eliminated or complained that Jessica Sanchez wasn’t voted off. Others said Idol executives orchestrated the elimination in a certain way to pave the way for Sanchez to win the competition.
"They only called Jessica safe first so they could turn the Josh fans against Phillip by making it out like Phillip was the bad guy who sent Josh home... their games are so disgusting and transparent!" one user on Facebook said.
Many others complained Ledet’s elimination was due to people not voting for the best singer and voting for the most charismatic.
"I dont think its rigged, It’s a bunch of teeny boppers voting for the guy with charisma, not by talent cause pp had alot of bad weeks," another upset Facebook user wrote tonight.
"Joshua voted off, again America was not looking for the best talent! He will have much success anyway. To the person who said Randy was upset, it was not Randy alone, Jennifer and Jimmy were equally upset!" one Facebook user noted.
Some of the fans complaining witnessed Ledet earning the most number of standing ovations from the judges throughout the season. The 20-year-old singer from Westlake, Lousiana was often praised by the judges. He wasn’t at the bottom two last week when Hollie Cavanagh was eliminated.
"Soo unbelievable that Josh would be voted off - he is sooo much better than Phillip! I don't know why I keep watching this show - it happens every year :(" a person wrote on Facebook.
"Josh was the most talented & all-around performer on the show. No matter what age, no matter what style he was a pro. I will be buying his album," another Idol fan said.
Sanchez and Phillips will battle for the American Idol title on Tuesday. The winner will be revealed Wednesday.
Correction: The article previously stated that the season's finale would be aired Thursday and the performance show Wednesday.
