There are only a few months left until the season 4 premiere of Game of Thrones, but those who are impatient can look to the books to see what's next for the HBO show.

In A Storm of Swords, book three of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels on which the series is based, there are many interested developments that occur at the Wall.

Season 4 of Game of Thrones is adapting the second half of A Storm of Swords, which features the big wildling invasion upon Westeros. Led by Mance Rayder (Ciaran Hinds), the wildling army descends upon the Westeros will a vengeance. There will be a battle that potentially rivals Blackwater from season 2, with many interesting creatures in the mix.

Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the Night's Watch get off to a horrible start in the battle, losing many men in the process. The Night's Watch decides to send Jon to assassinate Mance himself, which does not particularly interest him.

Jon is saved by Stannis (Stephen Dillane), who swoops in with his own army and defeats Mance and the wildlings. Stannis and Melisandre (Carice van Houten) take Mance into custody and deliberate on the right course of action for him.

Meanwhile, North of the Wall, Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) continues forward with his band of misfits in the hope of finding the Three-Eyed Raven from his visions. Once there, he meets a zombie who he nicknames "Coldhands," a special creature with the ability to talk. Coldhands guides Bran through the dangerous territories and fends off malicious zombies.

Assuming Game of Thrones continues to adapt the events of the novels with accuracy, there is sure to be plenty of action not only at the Wall but all throughout the seven kingdoms and beyond.

Season 4 of Game of Thrones returns in spring 2014 on HBO, though a specific premiere date has not yet been scheduled.
