'Doctor Who' Shocking New Minisode; A War Wary Doctor Returns in 'Day of the Doctor' Prequel VIDEO
"The Last Day" by Steven Moffat chronicles the massive Dalek invasion of Arcadia through footage from a soldier's headcam. New to the post, the unnamed Gallifreyan warrior is assured he is in the safest place possible.
Protected by 400 sky trenches, Arcadia is heavily fortified and our unseen fighter is told that his recurring visions of death and destruction are merely hallucinations and not harbingers of things to come.
However, as a massive force of Daleks swoop down on the defending army, viewers are reminded of how troubled the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) was by the ensuing battle. Ten briefly referenced the event when asked by a "Doomsday" Dalek how he survived the Time War.
"By fighting. On the front line," Ten explained to the Cult of Skaro. "I was there at the fall of Arcadia. Someday I might even come to terms with that."
"The Last Day" soldiers are far less lucky than the iconic Time Lord and they quickly fall in chaotic terror at the hands of the attacking Daleks.
While the new clip doesn't really function as a prequel like "The Night of the Doctor," "The Last Day" gives viewers a brief look at the world that a young John Hurt (Unnumbered Doctor) would be heading into, a world that fans may see a lot more of in "The Day of the Doctor."
"The Day of the Doctor" will air worldwide on Nov. 23.
