Marvel's Agents of SHIELD looking a little deeper into Melinda May's past during "Repairs."

A piece of Agent May's (Ming-Na Wen) history is vital to solving an upcoming case and viewers will get their first real, in depth look at the quiet pilot.

The new ABC show has devoted at least one episode to further exploring nearly every character but May still remains an enigma. Often referred to as "The Cavalry," May is a forced to be reckoned with when the fight comes down to hand-to-hand combat. However, time in the field took an emotional toll on the agent and she was riding a desk before Coulson (Clark Gregg) convinced her to re-enter the fray.

"I'm interested to see what she was like before something happened to her, to make her retreat and want to just work in an office job," May told Ksite TV. "I do believe that, like Agent Coulson, she loves the job. She loves being a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. She believes in its purpose. And it's up to Agent Coulson to bring her back into the field and make her carry out her services as a skilled agent."

During "The Well," viewers learned that what ever it is that May is hiding, she relives it in her mind every day. The Asgardian episode also allowed the quiet character to open up to someone other than Coulson. Could Joss Whedon and Co. be opening up an avenue to a relationship between Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) and his Level Seven coworker?

Find out more when Agents of SHIELD airs "Repairs" next Tuesday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
