Katie Couric is walking away from her contract with ABC News in lieu of a deal with the extensive Internet colossus, Yahoo.

Couric signed a deal with ABC in 2012 following a long history with both NBC, where she became a staple of the Today show, and CBS. During a deal with Disney and ABC, the reporter struck an alleged $40 million agreement that included two seasons of the daytime talk show Katie and three years at ABC News, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While there has been no definitive news regarding the fate of the sophomore talk show, The Hollywood Reporter states that Couric's involvement with Yahoo stems from a collaboration between ABC and the Internet staple that resulted in the Yahoo News segment Katie's Take.

Focused on interviews and featured on the search engine's home page, the new endeavor may help Couric avoid the gossip trend that she has previously seemed adverse to.

Meanwhile, ABC doesn't appear to be harboring any hard feelings over the split.

Katie is an incredible journalist and this was an opportunity that she couldn't pass up," an ABC source told TVNewser. "Thanks to the powerful association between ABC News and Yahoo we know that Katie will continue to work closely with us and welcome her on our air anytime."
