‘Amish Mafia’ Star Esther Schmucker Update: Boyfriend Imir Williams Awaits Trial For Assault Charges in Prison [VIDEO]
After waiving his preliminary hearing, the boyfriend accused of beating Amish Mafia star Esther Schmucker was sent back to prison Nov. 26 after a judge refused to reduce his bail from $250,000.
Imir Williams, 24, also known as Mirkat, is facing charges for beating the 27-year-old Schmucker in the early morning hours of Oct. 31. He then reportedly stood guard over her for days, preventing her from going to police, before going on the run. He was arrested on Nov. 6 and charged with felony aggravated assault.
A judge reduced rhe charges against Williams at his hearing on Tuesday, according to Penn Live. He is now facing charges of misdemeanor assault and an additional charge of misdemeanor stalking.
The stalking charge was added after Williams allegedly continued to threaten and harm Schmucker even after he was convicted of harassing her this past summer. Williams could face probation and nine months in county prison if convicted when the case goes to trial.
The judge refused to reduce the bail so Williams could get out of prison to spend Thanksgiving with his family, citing "the threat he posed to the community at large, but to Ms. Schmucker specifically."
Williams was extremely vocal during the hearing, saying to the judge at one point "I'm not staying with Esther. I'm staying with family in the city. I'm pleading guilty to a stalking charge. Is that not enough?"
He also added, "Look at what she's done to my life. Why would I have anything to do with her?"
The judge disagreed with Williams outbursts, calling him a "violent man with a short fuse" before sending him back to prison.
Schmucker has kept fans posted about her recovery and should be returning to film season 3 of Amish Mafia, which airs in 2014.
