While Doctor Who fans are still recovering from the series' 50 th Anniversary celebration, the BBC program has already announced the title of the upcoming Christmas Special.

Set to be Matt Smith's last outing as the iconic Time Lord, the newly titled "The Time of the Doctor" will see the Eleventh Doctor regenerate into Peter Capaldi's Twelve, according to the BBC.

The Doctor will uproot Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) from her holiday dinner in order to chase down a message that is being broadcast to the stars from a small, unassuming planet. However, the Doctor and his TARDIS aren't then only space travelers that have picked up the transmission - some of the Time Lord's most notorious enemies will also be making an appearance.

Previously leaked footage from filming hinted at the possibility of Cybermen, and a new poster (see above) confirms fans' suspicions. The same video showed the Doctor and Clara wandering through a wintery scene - complete with snow, evergreen trees, and Christmas lights - while tracking the unknown origins of a signal, which may be the aforementioned transmission.

A recent bite-sized, 10-second trailer (see video below) revealed that the episode will also deal with the continuing mystery of Trenzalore. The oft-mentioned location is the home of the Doctor's grave, a fact that makes viewers wonder which number regeneration the Time Lord is on.

'Doctor Who' New PHOTO, Cybermen for Christmas Special?

According to the Radio Times, executive producer Steven Moffat recently stated that Matt Smith's Doctor might actually be the 13th incarnation instead of the Eleventh. Since there is a 12-regeneration cap, the series must find away to break the old rule and allow Peter Capaldi's Doctor to come into being.

"The Time of the Doctor" will air on Dec. 25.
