When fans were first introduced to Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba) in Netflix's Orange Is The New Black, she was undoubtedly a scary prison presence at first glance.

However, with the character's poetry and Swirl song, her striking presence also became a strong source of comedy.

Aduba recently took the opportunity to speak to HitFix on Nov. 27, and in the process, touched on another aspect of her complex character, which is her white parents that were introduced in episode 9 of the first season.

"They [the writers] had mentioned that there were going to be parents introduced and that it was going to be a bit more interesting and when I read the script and I saw, I didn't realize that the 'interesting' was going to be that they were white. And when I saw it, I thought, 'Oh my gosh!'

The actress went on to elaborate on her gratitude for the unorthodox relationship that her character has inside a backstory that audiences certainly hope will be delved into more in season 2.

"Again, I just felt so thankful that we could have baselined her and kept her playing from that position, but instead we -- Or 'they.' I should say... Not 'me' ... I'm not writing in the writers' room -- they layered her with something that was so unexpected, but then made sense as we tracked the story," she said.

Netflix's Orange Is The New Black is set to make its return for its sophomore installment at some point in 2014. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest info on the popular series.
