'Atlantis' BBC: Hercules and Jason Brave Hades To Rescue Medusa In 'Pandora's Box' VIDEO
Atlantis' Hercules and Jason will have to travel to hell and back...literally.
During "Pandora's Box," Medusa (Jemima Rooper) is kidnapped by a moneylender named Kyros and Hercules (Mark Addy) is tasked with the burden of retrieving the demanded ransom from the depths of Hades. The son of Zeus teams up with Jason (Jack Donnelly) to find a way to enter the land of the dead and somehow emerge alive.
Although it looks like the duo will manage to cross the River Styx unscathed and Jason's bull-jumping gymnastics to help snag their prize, re-crossing the fabled river may prove to be a tad more difficult. Even if our heroes do find their way back into the sunlight, the end result of the ransom deal may be worse then they could have ever imagined.
However, shooting for the episode led to some far less terrifying moments.
"Jack and I were doing a scene where we've been ferried across a river one evening. We had an older actor with us playing Charon who had been made to look like death with weird contact lenses and covered in cobwebs," Addy said, according to the BBC. "We had to get out of the boat and then he punts the boat back to the other side of the river. We'd done it a few times and on the fifth take, I said my line, turned around and saw that he'd actually fallen over backwards into the boat. Clearly a shot that isn't going to make it to the screen and we lost the solemnity of the moment!"
