'The Mentalist' Season 6 Spoilers: Patrick Jane Will 'Find His Spark Again' At FBI, What Is Lisbon's Fate? VIDEO
The Mentalist's Patrick Jane is back in America but how his future plays out from here depends largely on how much he is willing to cooperate with FBI.
Following the events of "My Blue Heaven," Jane (Simon Baker) ended his 2-year tropical vacation and hopped a plane with the FBI's Agent Dennis Abbott (Rockmond Dunbar) in order to make a deal that puts the faux psychic back to work solving crimes instead of rotting away in prison.
Although Lisbon (Robin Tunney) heads down to Texas to sit in on Jane's meeting, things don't go quite as planned. Jane is thrown for a loop when Abbott reneges on Jane's terms and he's even more surprised when his recent 24-hour romance turns out to have been with Kim Fischer (Emily Swallow), one of his new bosses. Meanwhile, Lisbon (Robin Tunney) is completely baffled by her friend's sudden refusal to comply with the deal.
Despite all the chaos, it looks like Jane will be getting back in the field during "Green Thumb." Cho's (Tim Kang) warning that the Mentalist and the FBI may operate on different wavelengths defiantly becomes prophetic.
"We're going to have some fun putting Jane into an entirely different work environment," Baker told TV Guide. "He'll not only find his spark again - he'll have a whole lot of new people to rub the wrong way!"
In the meantime, Lisbon is left hanging. A little off kilter by Jane's definitive proclamation that she would be joining him in his new government job, the former CBI agent must figure out exactly how she will fit into Jane's professional and personal life.
"[The post-Red John plot] redefines the relationship between Jane and Lisbon in a real and adult way," Baker teased fans., according to the USA Today. "That's a really strong element of the show."
There's still a lot of post-Red John storylines to untangle, including the fate of Agents Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) and Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti), so tune in when The Mentalist airs Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on CBS in order to get some answers. Click the video below to see a preview for "Green Thumb."
