Phillip Phillips: Crooner Reacts to American Idol Win
Phillip Phillips was crowned the winner of American Idol in an emotional result show night but it seems that the reality is still sinking in for the Georgian crooner. It was a tough competition. East Coast vs West Coast. Rock vs Pop. Boy vs Girl. But it seems Phillip's fans outnumbered Jessica's.

The 21-year-old pawn shop worker beat Jessica Sanchez after a record high of 132 million votes cast in the finals. In an interview with reporters after his victory, Phillips gave his reaction on his win.
"I never thought I would win or anything," he told AP. " I don't know. I was just doing my thing each week. If I would've gotten cut, it wouldn't have bothered me. I wouldn't have been depressed because it's just a TV show. I just went out there and did my thing."
Phillips was overcome with emotion while singing "Home" after being crowned the champ, going down the stage to give his family a hug. Even backstage he was still teary-eyed, admitting to reporters that he will sill probably "cry some more".
Phillips' health problems were well publicized before the finals as his doctor urged him to have surgery to remove his kidney stones as soon as possible. Now that he's won Idol, Phillip says he will have to get the surgery done soon. When asked how he dealt with the pain, he told AP: "It was really tough, man. I had a lot of great doctors watching after me. ... Sometimes it would be tough to sing and just stand up. It's good to have people around you."
And although Phillips' song "Home" he sang on the Tuesday night finals was probably his winning performance, he says he is not sure if he considers "Home" as his first single. "I don't write singles like that," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's a very good song and I'm glad people enjoyed it, but I'm itching to do my own stuff."
He told THR: "The song that I did tonight that supposedly is my single, it's not really my single, I told them it's not my single." He goes on to say that he is glad people like the song but he has his own thing.
Phillips told AP that he wants to write his own stuff. "Me and my brother-in-law who was on the show tonight write a lot together. I'm excited to do my album. I know it's going to be challenging because a lot of opinions will be coming my way, but it's like the show, I know my music. I know how I want it."
Now Phillips will have to head home for surgery and hopefully he will recover soon so he can join in on the American Idol summer tour.
