To the sheer excitement of its many loyalists, the BBC will soon be airing its third season of its hit program, Sherlock, as new details have indeed emerged on the upcoming installment's third episode.
In The Last Vow, Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) will find himself up against a brand new antagonist named Charles Augustus Magnussen (Lars Mikkelsen), which will surely transcend the conflict of the show to a new intensity.
Watson & Sherlock To 'Drive Each Other Mad' In Season 2?
Although the official air date for the episode has yet to be announced, the BBC network did elaborate on some of its details:
"In the final episode of this new series, written by Steven Moffat, a case of stolen letters leads Sherlock Holmes into a long conflict with Charles Augustus Magnussen, the Napoleon of blackmail, and the one man he truly hates."
While Charles Augustus Magnussen will be a clear-cut villain in the eyes of Sherlock, it appears as though he'll also be making the lives of those in high regard difficult as well, as the network posed the following query:
"But how do you tackle a foe who knows the personal weakness of every person of importance in the Western world?"

Sherlock will be making its return to television in the U.S. on Jan. 19, 2014 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. However, it will be kicking off in the U.K. on Jan. 1, 2014. The most recent trailer for the upcoming series can be viewed below.
