Ravenswood's Matheson twins are being sucked further into their hometown's mystery even as the creepy hamlet keeps them at arm's length.

Olivia (Merritt Patterson) and Luke (Brett Dier) where having problems long before the notion of the Five Pact and its curse came into their lives. The death of their mayoral father and the aspersions cast upon their mother left them ostracized as the inaugural season began, and now that the teens know their parent's death is connected with the supernatural, the murder investigation will get even more intense.

"The town of Ravenswood thinks that our mother killed our father, so the whole family is being ignored and hated," Patterson said, according to Spoiler TV. "They think that our mom murdered our father and therefore we're all connected to this murder. I think they're just putting us out there on our own. Nobody really trusts or respects our mom, and therefore the kids are being painted that way as well."

The second episode after the winter hiatus will strike very close to home for the twins. Titled "Home Is Where The Heart Is - Seriously Check The Floorboards," smacks of a Tell-Tale Hart vibe and brings the Ravenswood police to the Matheson household following the discovery of some form of evidence.

"I think Luke and Olivia are trying to figure out who murdered their father, because it doesn't seem like the cops or anyone in the town is," Patterson told Spoiler TV. "They're really pushing to find out who did it, so they start to take things into their own hands and they find clues along the way. Once the murderer is revealed, that will obviously help and make people realize."

However, their investigation into the curse and their father could yield disastrous results. A new promo for the second half of the first season shows Luke sitting in what appears to be a jail cell, and the siblings must tread lightly since both the supernatural and the real world seem out to get them.

Ravenswood returns to ABC Family on Jan. 7 at 9 p.m. ET.
