'Chicago PD' Premiere: NBC Police Show Features Ensemble Cast & 'Chicago Fire' Originals [VIDEO]
Fans of Chicago Fire have another Chicago-set show to look forward to on NBC.
NBC is premiering Chicago PD, a spinoff of Chicago Fire, on Wednesday at 10 p.m. Chicago PD centers on a Chicago police force that goes after criminals who commit major street offenses.
Chicago PD stars Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Sophia Bush, Patrick Flueger, LaRoyce Hawkins, Elias Koteas, Marina Squerciati and Archie Kao.
Two characters from Chicago Fire are expected to be recurring characters on Chicago PD: Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund), a paramedic at the firehouse, and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), lieutenant at the firehouse and Gabriela's boyfriend.
Chicago PD is said to exist within the same universe as Law & Order: SVU and other productions by producer Dick Wolf. In fact, there will be an episode that features Fin (Ice-T) and Rollins (Kelly Giddish) of Law & Order: SVU. The two characters will lend their expertise to the Chicago PD in an upcoming episode, according to TV Guide.
Beghe stars as Sgt. Hank Voight, a formerly aggressive, doesn't-play-by-the-rules cop who was jailed. He is then taken out of jail to run the Intelligence team of the Chicago PD. His team is an eclectic gathering of police officers, and one of the officers Erin (Bush) functions as a daughter figure to Voight.
Chicago PD is a crime procedural in the same vein as Law & Order and similar shows on CBS like Criminal Minds and CSI. The series will air after Law & Order: SVU every Wednesday night on NBC.
Chicago PD premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. on NBC.
