'Mad Men' Season 7 Premiere: AMC Reveals Air Date for Final Episodes of Series [VIDEO]
The Mad Men season 7 premiere date has been announced by AMC.
AMC announced this week that Mad Men will return for its seventh and final season on Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m. on the network. Only the first seven episodes of the season will air in spring 2014, as the network intends on splitting the season into two halves. The final seven episodes will air in spring 2015.
As season 7 is premiering in the 10 p.m. timeslot, it will likely only be a one-hour premiere instead of two hours, which was the case for seasons 5 and 6.
"We are extremely excited about the 2014 line-up," said Charlie Collier, AMC President and General Manager in a press release. "Both the returning and new series reflect our commitment to serving passionate audiences with compelling, character-driven story-telling."
Very few details have been released about Mad Men's final season, despite the show being in production for several months. There has been speculation about James Wolk returning as the elusive Bob Benson, but the actor, currently starring in the CBS sitcom The Crazy Ones, has not confirmed his return.
One interesting detail revealed by E! Online in December was that the final season would be featuring "too many hippies" for Don Draper (Jon Hamm) to handle, indicating that the generation of free love as fully taken over on the show.
