2014 is shaping up to be a bad year for most of Weatherfield's residents on Coronation Street.

Coronation Street: Friday, Dec. 27, 2013

Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley (Julia Hesmondhalgh) know they're heading ever closer to Hayley's death, especially when Hayley's nurse increases her morphine dosage. The medicinal move could inspire Hayley to do as she said she would when the time to die came-before the cancer took her, she would take her own life.

Though death is the culprit for Roy and Hayley's marriage ending soon, it can't be blamed as far as Nick (Ben Price) and Leanne's (Jane Danson) union is concerned. The couple may soon be headed for a divorce.

In the Wednesday, Jan. 15 episode, Nick will pour his heart out to Leanne's mom, Stella (Michelle Collins), and reveals to her that he thinks a split might be best. He knows Leanne is no longer happy, and it may be the best thing for her since his accident has made him prone to intense mood swings and angry outbursts.

Meanwhile, Marcus (Charlie Condou) hasn't changed his plans about buying a house with his girlfriend, Maria (Samia Ghadie), but he may soon be swayed by the temptation Todd (Bruno Langley) has offered him. For now at least, his relationship is safe and Todd will apologize for hitting on him.

Besides romances ending, other drama could soon hit the street as well in the form of Owen's (Ian Puleston-Davies) business deal with Phelan (Connor McIntyre). Though Anna (Debbie Rush) has reluctantly agreed to the potentially shady business deal, she will be secretly relieved when Owen's loan application has been denied.
