'Survivor: Cagayan' Premiere: CBS Reveals Two-Hour First Episode Air Date for Season 28 [VIDEO]
CBS has officially announced the premiere date for Survivor: Cagayan, the 28th season in the reality-competition series.
Survivor: Cagayan will premiere Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. on CBS, according to an official press release published by the network Wednesday. The Survivor: Cagayan premiere will be two hours long, the longest premiere since Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains' two-hour launch in 2010.
This season of Survivor will feature 18 new players split up into three tribes of six. The concept of season 28 is "brawn vs. brains vs. beauty," which means there will be a tribe of six athletic players, a tribe of six intellectual players and a tribe of six physically attractive players. Survivor: Cagayan is the first season to use three tribes instead of two since Survivor: Phillippines (season 25) and the first to feature exclusively new players since Survivor: One World (season 24).
The press release notes that Survivor is coming off a "buzzed about" season - Survivor: Blood vs. Water - which averaged 11.58 million viewers. The season was the second most watched reality series for adults 18-49.
Host Jeff Probst will continue to serve his duty through Survivor: Cagayan as well seasons 29 and 30.
CBS also released new promotional photos of the location, including shots of the beach, the torches, the Immunity necklace and Tribal Council. View the photos here.
