'Dexter' Spinoff Rumors: Showtime President Teases New Potential Show with Michael C. Hall Returning? [VIDEO]
There is new information on the potential spinoff to the Showtime's successful serial killer drama Dexter.
Showtime entertainment president David Nevins told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour that a Dexter spinoff would only happen if star Michael C. Hall (who played Dexter) was involved.
Nevins confirmed that there have been "ongoing conversations" that would need to include Hall in the spinoff. "It would have to involve Michael... If we were to do it, I'd only do it with Michael."
Nevins said that he would be interested in producing a new concept to the Dexter universe.
"If we were to do it, we would have to have a very good reason to do it. It's a new show. I'm not interested in doing it if it's just a continuation.... I would want to do Dexter in a new concept and configuration. I want it to feel different," he said.
Dexter concluded after eight seasons in Sept. 2013, with a series finale that angered many fans of the show. Dexter Morgan had left Miami and created a new identity for himself in Oregon working at a lumber company.

Talk of a possible Dexter spinoff began in summer 2012 when Nevins was asked if such a show could happen.
"Of course, we announced an overall deal with Scott Buck today. Draw your own conclusions," he said, cryptically. The Showtime president had been discussing a possible spinoff for Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), Dexter's complicated sister, previously.
