The Vampire Diaries will return next week with its 100th episode and will apparently include one of the show's biggest surprises ever.

The episode will feature "flashbacks," "familiar faces" and "family," according to E! Online on Friday. The website noted that one scene will show the majority of the cast all together, which doesn't happen too often.

E! also added that the final scene of the episode is "one of the series' best twists," to date.

As EnStars previously reported, Damon and Elena's relationship will also be a big focus in the upcoming episode titled "500 Years of Solitude."

Fans will get to see how the two deal with their breakup when the show comes back on Jan. 23 and it will be "huge."

"[We] see how they're both handling it," the show's Executive Producer Caroline Dries told TVLine in a Jan. 2 report.

She also added that things between the two are "still so tender. There's still so much that is unresolved about it."

But, Damon and Elena aren't the only couple in focus this season. Dries said that Bonnie and Jeremy will "hit some speed bumps."

Caroline is also going to have some romance of her own.

"That's kind of a joke in the 100th episode. When it comes out about Stefan and Katherine sleeping together, Caroline's like, 'What?! Why the heck am I the only one not getting any?'" Dries also recently told TVLine. "Hopefully, we'll find her somebody new."

The Vampire Diaries returns to the CW with its 100th episode on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. EST.
