'True Detective' Spoilers: Episode 3 Preview Features Cohle Having an Affair With Hart's Wife? [VIDEO]
On the next episode of True Detective, a hidden message at the church will lead Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Hart (Woody Harrelson) to a new suspect.
The upcoming third episode of True Detective is titled The Locked Room and features the two detectives on the hunt for a new suspect in the case. The synopsis for the episode, published by HBO, states that Cohle and Hart investigate a message found at the burned-out church. They are led to Joel Theriot (Shea Whigham), a minister whose parishioners describe a scarred "tall man" who was seen with murder victim Dora Lange.
Eventually, a suspect is brought in who matches the description who offers up a confession, but Cohle dismisses him. Cohle concerns himself with finding connections and patterns in the case and comes to discover a connection with a woman who had assumedly drowned years earlier.
Meanwhile, Hart becomes distracted when wife Maggie (Michelle Monaghan) sets Cohle up with a friend at a C&W bar.
In the trailer for the third episode, Hart is shown becoming furious with Cohle after discovering that he is at Hart's house while he's not there. The conflict leads to Hart pushing Cohle violently, which is intercut between a scene of Cohle getting very close with Maggie. The trailer also shows the toll the case is taking on Cohle as he obsesses over solving the case.
True Detective airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
