While it seems the demise of Joel and Julia's relationship on Parenthood is near, there may be hope.

Erika Christensen, who plays Julia, spoke with Parade magazine about the turmoil and said she believes they can overcome it.

"They've got ten years of a loving relationship under their belts and, in the interest of their children and everything, I think they can," she said.

"It's just such an entirely new situation. Every aspect of their lives is new. Julia not working and Joel working. Victor. They're in a whole new place and they haven't had time to properly adjust to it. I think that's really what this is-their adjustment to their new situation. It's just really rough."

However, if her character does rekindle her romance with Joel, Christensen said she's not sure if they will be able to have the same loving and trusting relationship they used to.

"I think it will inform their relationship from here on out, assuming that they make it, but not in a bad way necessarily. Maybe in one of those 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' ways," she told the magazine.

"As long as they fully regain each other's trust. That's the only thing that's at risk at this point. You can't have a relationship at all if you don't trust each other. If they get that back, then everything else can build from there, even if they rebuild it in a new way."

In a December episode, Julia confessed to Joel that Ed kissed her. The news angered her husband beyond belief. Yet, Julia attempted to ease his anger by telling him, "From my point of view it was nothing." But, her words don't make him feel any better.

"Why would you think that is nothing?" Joel says before he storms out of the room.

In last week's episode, Joel even told Julia that he's decided to move out.
