David Schwimmer Prime Time TV Comeback: 'Friends' Actor to Star in New ABC Comedy Pilot
David Schwimmer has been picked up to star in the pilot of a new ABC comedy.
The series, Irreversible, is based on a hit Israeli show, Bilti Hafich, centers on the life of an eccentric couple, Andy and Sarah who lead very sefl indulgent lives and land themselves in comical and ridiculous situations of their own making. Schwimmer will be playing the role of Andy, who is a writer. Andy has already published two books, one was a success while the other was a massive failure. Schwimmer will also be taking on producer duties.
The show will be helmed by Segahl Avin, co-creator of the original Israeli series. Avin will take be wearing many hats -- that of script writer, director and executive producer. The show is being created under the Sony Pictures banner and is being co-produced by Reshet TV, with Peter Tolan and Michael Wimer.
Schwimmer mostly kept busy with film projects -- like Madagascar and Nothing But the Truth -- after Friends wrapped in 2004. The actor most recently appeared in The Iceman (2013), portraying the role of Josh Rosenthal.
Schwimmer's Friends co-stars have all made succesful careers for themselves in television. Lisa Kudrow writes and stars in her own TV show Web Therapy, which Schwimmer has also guest starred on. Matt LeBlanc stars in Showtime's Episodes and Courtney Cox plays the lead in Cougar Town. Matthew Perry who also starred in Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip -- which lasted for only one season ---- and now is in talks to star in a reboot of The Odd Couple on CBS. Jennifer Aniston is the only star who made a successful career for herself in Hollywood and continues to do so.
