The final round of the U.S. Open Golf 2012 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, will be kicking off Sunday as former champions Jim Furyk and Graeme McDowell head the leaderboard.

The leaderboard is cluttered at the top and anyone could win the tournament. The excitement builds up knowing the recent history of U.S. Opens at the Olympic as four previous U.S. Opens ended in a dramatic way.

Two were decided by a single stroke over 72 holes and the other two were decided after an 18-hole playoff.

“We couldn’t be more happy with the challenge we have presented the players,” Mike Davis, the executive director of the USGA said Saturday.“I think what we’ve seen is a test of golf in line with other U.S. Opens here at Olympic.”

On Saturday Funky, who won the U.S. Open in 2003, reached the top spot after shooting an even-par 70.

McDowell, who won the U.S. Open in 2010, capped his round of 68 with a birdie at the 18th. Fredrik Jacobsen, from Sweden, also shot a 68 to finish third.

Lee Westwood (67) from England, Nicolas Colsaerts (71) from Belgium, Blake Adams (70) from U.S. and Ernie Els (68) from South Africa tied for 4th.

Tiger Woods slipped down sitting tied for 14th with Matt Kuchar from the U.S. at 3-over for Round 3 4-over for the week thus far.

According to Reuters, seven different players had a share of the lead at some point in round three but it was Furyk and McDowell on top at the end of yesterday's games.

The U.S. Open will start at 1 p.m. PST-7 p.m. PST and will be broadcast on NBC.
