'Ray Donovan' Season 2 News: Premiere Date Revealed; 'Boardwalk Empire' Actor Joins Show as Ray's Aide?
The summer premiere date for the second season of Ray Donovan will be July 13.
Boardwalk Empire's Brian Geraghty is also coming on board the Showtime series as a Los Angeles detective who will get tangled up with the Donovan family. It is not known if Geraghty's character will create trouble for the Donovans or assist them in clearing up their criminal foot print.
The second season is going to be a massive treat in terms of guest stars. The list just keeps getting longer by the day. Earlier this week, it was also announced that Heather McComb would be playing a recurring role as Patricia, a working-class mother who befriends Bunchy (Dash Minok). McComb (Shameless, Bones and Rizzoli & Isles) started work on set on March 19. The actress also has a film, Another Stateside, coming up.
Another interesting addition to the cast is Andrea Bogart (General Hospital), who will be starring as Megan, the wife of FBI agent Thomas Volchek (Kip Pardue) in Season 2 of the Showtime series.
Pardue, who plays the part of Volchek, also comes on board with season 2. Volchek is an FBI agent working under the chief of the Los Angeles division, James Cochran. Hank Azaria will portray Cochran. Both Purdue and Azaria will have recurring roles throughout the season. It was previously reported that Azaria's character will cause problems for Ray (Liev Schrieber) on the show, and it seems like the addition of Pardue will spell double trouble for the fixer.

Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks) will be guest-starring as Azaria's wife on the series.
There are a whole bunch of other guest stars joining season 2, but not all of them will complicate affairs for Ray.
The Wire's Wendell Pierce will also be coming on board as Mr. Keith, a parole officer on the show. Though Pierce's character's circumstances will be pretty abysmal, instead of posing a threat to Ray, he will be actually taking some help from him.
Vinessa Shaw is also joining the cast as a Pulitzer award-winning Boston Globe journalist who is working on a book about Sully (James Woods) and the circumstances surrounding his death. Shaw's character might create trouble for Ray as she digs deeper while investigating.
Ray Donovan airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
