Hugh Dancy loves getting covered in blood. Fake Hannibal blood, that is.

The British actor just finished filming his second season as Hannibal's Will Graham; FBI profiler and former patient of the cannibalistic psychiatrist. Considering the NBC series' propensity for gore and cinematically artistic murder scenes, it's not surprising that Dancy isn't overly squeamish about his job.
"[At the end of the day] I just feel great. I love it," Dancy informed Conan on Monday.
I mean, it's work, it's a job. That's the first thing. Secondly, I'm going home, that's always good as well. And thirdly, I get covered in fake blood for a living or force-fed ears and things of that nature. I just love all that stuff."
Although Dancy's love of nightmare-inducing graphics would probably make Hannibal newbies believe all the slicing and dicing takes place on screen, that would be a major misconception. Aside from Hanni's (Mads Mikkelsen) little cooking lessons, most of the actual murder takes place away from viewer's sensitive eyes, giving writers a chance to focus on the after effects.
"What I like about our show is that we're not killing people willy-nilly," Dancy explained to KTLA on Tuesday. "I think the show's about the consequences of violence, the psychological consequences of violence. You very rarely see it actually happen on screen, that's not what we're interested in, that's not what I'm interested in."
Viewers can catch up with Dancy and his least favorite chef when Hannibal airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. Click the video below to see a preview of the series' next episode, "Naka-Choko."
