Angela Bassett recently spoke about what character she might be playing on the upcoming fourth season of American Horror Story.

Taissa Farmiga Denies Possible Role In American Horror Story: Freak Show?

Bassett, who famously played voodoo priestess Marie Laveau in American Horror Story: Coven, is set to return for the fourth season of the horror anthology series, a season that is subtitled Freak Show. Bassett will be playing one of the "freaks" in a troupe owned by Jessica Lange's character. However, the actress can rule out which classic freaks she won't be playing.

"I'm not the bearded lady," Bassett told Vulture recently. "You know it's 'freak show,' so your mind begins to work. I had an opportunity to see [Ryan Murphy] - and I knew it was going to be fabulous and the writers are amazing, but you know a woman's curiosity. I said, 'Ryan, am I the bearded lady?'"

Emmy-Winning Actor Joins American Horror Story As Father of Evan Peters' Character

Murphy revealed that she wouldn't be playing the bearded lady but that she would be playing someone "'even more special.'" The actress added that she wouldn't be playing conjoined twins either, another classic freak trope.

"I don't know what other freaks there are. After the bearded lady and the conjoined twins, what else is there?" she asked, rhetorically. "We're all freaks."

Little is known about the specific characters that will show up in American Horror Story: Freak Show. The only actor who has spilled the beans so far is Denis O'Hare, who said he will be playing a "collector of freaks" at odds with Lange's character.

American Horror Story season 4 airs in fall 2014 on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date.
