Gabourey Sidibe is set to appear in a new Fox show set to air this fall called Empire, potentially putting her status on American Horror Story in question.

Taissa Farmiga Denies Possible Role In American Horror Story: Freak Show?

Sidibe has previously been announced to be appearing in the fourth season of American Horror Story, but it may only be in a limited capacity. Fox has announced the pickup of Empire, a hip hop drama in which Sidibe has a recurring role. This could potentially limit her ability to appear on American Horror Story.

In the initial plot details for American Horror Story season 4, released by Entertainment Weekly, Sidibe was not included. The fourth season features Jessica Lange as the owner of a troupe of freaks. Among the freaks are characters played by Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Frances Conroy.

Other character details have since been revealed. Michael Chiklis is set to star as the father of Peters' character and the ex-husband of Bates' character. Denis O'Hare will be playing a collector of freaks who is at odds with Lange's character.

American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy announced that most of the cast of season 3's Coven would be coming back for season 4, which is titled Freak Show. Among them was Sidibe, Emma Roberts and Jamie Brewer. None of their roles have been discussed or revealed as of this month.

American Horror Story season 4 premieres in fall 2014 on FX, though then network has not yet scheduled a specific air date.
