‘How I Met Your Dad’ News: ‘HIMYM’ Spin-Off NOT Picked Up By CBS, Network Delaying Decision Because Of Fans? [PHOTO]
Despite seeming like a sure pick-up for the 2014-2015 television season, the How I Met Your Mother spin-off comedy How I Met Your Dad has not yet been picked up and given a series order by CBS.
'HIMYM' Cast Making Cameos In Spin-Off Series?
Though earlier reports on May 8 suggested the series had been given a pick-up, CBS and 20th Century Fox producers have both spoken up and denied the rumors or a pick-up, saying the network hasn't ordered any new shows for the upcoming season yet.
"#CBS has not picked up #HowIMetYourDad. Press reports untrue. No Pick-Ups have happened for any new series #DoesAnybodyCallAnymore?" CBS Executive Chris Ender tweeted soon after the news broke.

Original reports claimed that the series, which has a similar feel to the popular series that bowed March 31, was officially picked up alongside the Vince Gilligan/David Shore drama series, Battle Creek, and that CBS was only looking to pick up two comedies and two dramas after renewing most of the shows it currently airs.
Back in March, the network did officially announce that it was renewing most of its lineup of comedies, dramas and reality shows, with an impressive three-season renewal for The Big Bang Theory, as well as renewals for other longer-running shows, including Survivor, 2 Broke Girls, Mike and Molly, Two and a Half Men, NCIS, NCIS:LA, CSI, Blue Bloods, Person of Interest, Hawaii Five-o, Criminal Minds, Elementary, The Good Wife, The Amazing Race, and Undercover Boss. Freshman comedies The Millers and Mom also received renewals.
However, on word about new shows, the network has kept mum, and as far as How I Met Your Dad is concerned, they could stay that way for a while, as fans are still split on how receptive they are to the show following a HIMYM series finale that left fans divided.
One fan even tweeted about the news that the show had not been picked up, hinting that CBS may be changing their mind on the show entirely.
Other pilots the network could consider instead include Cuz-Bros, Gaffigan, Good Session, The McCarthys, The Mistake, More Time With Family, The Odd Couple, Save The Date, Madame Secretary, Only Human, Red Zone, Scorpion, The Untitled Kevin Williamson Project and Elmore, Tarlor, Ben Cavell and John Cusak Project.
The network is expected to make an announcement about its full lineup soon though, as other networks have begun to make announcements on which shows they are renewing and cancelling. The CW announced it had cancelled three shows, renewed seven and ordered four, while FOX canceled three of its freshman comedies as well as one drama series.
If the network does give the still-expected go-ahead to How I Met Your Dad, it will follow the story of Sally (Greta Gerwig) as she finds the man who will eventually father her children in the wake of a divorce from her first husband. The series will also star Meg Ryan as the voice of Future Sally, who tells her kids the whole story.
