Biggs, who plays Larry on Orange is the New Black, tweeted what many considered to be offensive jokes in regard to The Bachelorette.
"Here's what I can tell you without watching - 8 of the 20 guys are in the closet, all of them work out, and 2 can do simple division. And 19 of them are still alive. #TooSoon," he tweeted.
Steamy Scenes Ahead For Piper & Alex In Season 2?
People were mostly upset about the "19 of them are still alive" portion of his tweet, after recent news of contestant Eric Hill dying in a paragliding accident.
Many of his followers tweeted outraged responses, but Biggs defended himself on Extra:
"I tweet The Bachelor, Bachelorette, and then it's just fun to wake up on Tuesday mornings and see what articles are written about what tweet I wrote," he said. "Like what people are 'up in arms' about or 'Jason Biggs is under fire,' and I'm like, 'How am I under fire?'"
Biggs noted that he is just "joking" and that nothing is "off limits."
News of Biggs' insensitive jokes might be some negative buzz for Orange is the New Black, the kind of news they don't need when the premiere of Season 2 is two weeks away.
The show's producers have not commented on Biggs' tweets and it is unclear if they intend to.
Orange is the New Black Season 2 premieres Friday, June 6 in full on Netflix Watch Instantly.
