Lily Rabe Not Returning to American Horror Story After ABC Series Pickup?
Paulson spoke at an actress roundtable with The Hollywood Reporter and revealed what her most challenging scene has been thus far in American Horror Story production.
"I would say in season two, it was twofold: One, when I had to simulate performing an abortion on myself, and two, playing a 75-year-old woman," Paulson revealed. "That was very hard. And it was very important to me to kind of hold on to who the character of Lana Winters was as an older person, not just go into a kind of caricature. Also, I had the crazy makeup on that was terrifying, and I sent the photograph to my mother, and I was like: "I guess you'll never see this. This is me at 75!"
'Clown Killer' & Bearded Lady Confirmed For Season 4?
Paulson has had to be very physical with her performances almost every season, dealing with various atrocities as Lana Winters in Asylum and going blind for several episodes as Cordelia in Coven.
Now, she is gearing up for her most physically challenging role yet in American Horror Story: Freak Show, the fourth miniseries in the horror anthology series.
American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly Radio about Paulson's latest role.
The producer claimed that Paulson's new character is "the most challenging character I've ever created. I'm nervous for Sarah." He also said that there will be "physical rigors" that she has to go through. She is portraying a "freak" in Jessica Lange's character's troupe of freaks.
American Horror Story Season 4 premieres in fall 2014 on FX, though the network has not announced a specific premiere date.
