Season 4 of MTV's Awkward is well underway, with more drama to come. The season will run halfway until June, then take a break and pick up again in the fall. With the eighth episode airing Tuesday, June 3, the show will be nearing the middle of season 4's first half.

Jena Still Has Feelings for Matty on Awkward?

The episode is entitled Prison Breaks and picks up after Matty (Beau Mirchoff) has been arrested. Jenna (Ashley Rickards) and Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) are headed up to meet Luke (Evan Williams) at college, but will run into trouble when they find a girl in his bedroom, which will cue inevitable conflict.

With Jenna and her friends making their way through senior year, Awkward is reaching the turning point faced by all high-school themed shows: what happens after they graduate?

Most modern television tends to shy away from infinite high school, where characters remain in school season after season while not seeming to age. Instead, programs have tried to go for a more realistic approach.

The model of sending the characters off to college has worked for FOX's Glee and The CW's The Vampire Diaries, with the latter almost completely retaining the original cast.

Awkward could easily follow suit, but with the characters all heading in different directions, it seems unlikely, and if the show were to transition into college, it is possible that some of the cast might be cut or replaced to accommodate.
