'Mad Men' Season 7 Spoilers: Sean's Football Outfit A Bad Omen For Series Finale Of AMC Show? [VIDEO]
The mid-season finale for the final season of Mad Men aired on AMC in late May 2014, and viewers are still searching for clues as to how the series will end.
While Robert Morse's farewell as Bert Cooper took center stage during the mid-season finale, entitled Waterloo, speculation on other aspects is still going strong. The UK Daily Mail recently published an article on May 29 noting the red and gold jersey worn by Sean in the episode.
Sean, whose family is friends with Betty, draws interest from young Sally Draper, who develops somewhat of a crush on the boy. Sean is of course a bit older and about to head off for college.
Sean's number 32 football shirt is the same that was worn by O.J. Simpson, the football player believed to have murdered his wife in 1994, though he was later acquitted.
The Daily Mail continues to note how Mad Men is known for its foreshadowing, placing hidden meaning in small details through the series.
With speculation surrounding Don Draper's (Jon Hamm) death being the end of the series and his daughter Sally's interest in young Sean, the show could mirror a number of shows that have taken to utilizing side-characters to commit murder.
A secondary character committed the biggest murder of the series for HBO's Big Love during the final season. The shocking death of a prominent character on CBS's The Good Wife earlier this season also occurred when a seemingly minor character pulled out a gun.
Is the football jersey a bad omen? Or simply a coincidence? Viewers will have to wait until January 2015 to find out.
