Everyone knows that the HBO criminal drama True Detective will be receiving an all new characters for season two. The eagerly awaited cast has yet to be finalized or announced, but with the flurry of questions surrounding the program's carefully guarded story, even more speculation has mounted. Will any of the actors from smaller roles return for more significant ones this season?
True Detective Season Two Spoilers
Series creator Nic Pizzolatto has been reported in Entertainment Weekly as stating that he would like to see some of the cast come back. "It would be great if we could use some of the same actors, like a repertory company," said Pizzolatto.
While True Detective hardly seems poised to take on the repertory style, it is conceivable that some of the less prominent actors from that first season could return.
It would not be the first time a show recycled favorable actors. The CW's Gilmore Girls liked one performer so much they cast her as two separate characters in different seasons. Renowned author Stephen King is also known for allowing for places or people from one novel appearing in another.
While the True Detective's upcoming season is set to take place in California, some narrative maneuvering could plant one or two memorable performers in the storyline, particularly criminal suspects or drifters approached by Rust Cohle (Mathew McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson) in outskirt communities.
Of course the possibility of returning actors has not been confirmed. In the end, it is up to whether or not Pizzolatto chooses to bring anyone back into the script.
