Serena Williams won the Wimbledon 2012 title Saturday morning defeating Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1,5-7, 6-2.

Williams held the trophy with a big smile on her face. It is her fifth overall Wimbledon title but her first since Wimbledon two years ago after going through a series of health issues derailed her career.

"Oh my god I can't even describe. I almost didn’t make it a few years ago and now I’m here it was so worth it I am so happy. I never dreamt of being here again, never give up, thank you guys in the box daddy, mum, thank you thank you thank you. I love you all thank you from the bottom of my heart. I couldn’t have done with without you, you were in the hospital every day," Williams said in an interview at Wimbledon after receiving the trophy.

Serena bested Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland on the first set 6-1, but on the second set she lost her composure and was defeated 7-5. However on the third set she recovered her confidence and a set of 4 consecutive aces helped her take the lead and win 6-2.

When she hit the winning point she fell backwards onto Wimbledon's Centre Court in celebration and went to hug her family members and friends.

Williams said she was very happy to win and acknowledged his opponent's skills even asking the audience to give another round of applause to Radwanska.

Radwanska sat on her chair and cried. Her coach sitting in the audience looked disappointed but Radwanska said she was going to comeback next year to win the title.

"I was playing my best today as well so I just thank you very much for the support, thank you very much," Radwanska said fighting back tears.

No. 3 Radwanska played her first Major final. She is the first Pole to play for the Wimbledon Championship since Jadwiga Jedrzejowska in 1937.

Roger Federer and Andy Murray will play the men's finals Sunday at 9 a.m.
