Steenburgen is slated to play the mother of George Mendez, a.k.a. "Pornstache," according to a new report by TVLine. The actress had tweeted about joining the show on June 12, revealing her upcoming appearance:

"Very excited to go to my first wardrobe fitting of OITNB! Will I be in orange or black?:)" she tweeted.

Though she will be playing the mother of the polarizing character, it is not clear in what capacity she will be appearing. It is entirely possible that she could end up in prison like most of the females on the series.

The third season of Orange is the New Black is currently in production, just as people are binge-watching the second season, released on June 6.

Few details have been revealed about the third season of Netflix's prison 'dramedy,' but there have been a few cast promotions. Among those being promoted to series regular status for Season 3 are Yael Stone (Morello), Samira Wiley (Poussey), Dascha Polanco (Daya), Selenis Leyva (Gloria), Adrienne C. Moore (Black Cindy) and Nick Sandow (Caputo).

Additionally, Season 1 regular Laura Prepon, who plays Alex Vause, is returning to series regular status in Season 3 after only appearing in four episodes of Season 2. She revealed that she will be in "every episode" of Season 3 to The Today Show recently.

"Yes, definitely, and I'm really excited because I missed everybody so much during season 2," Prepon revealed when asked about Season 3. "But yeah, we started shooting yesterday, and it's awesome so I can't wait to get back to work."

Orange is the New Black is currently streaming Seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix. The streaming service company has not announced a release date for Season 3, though based on their scheduling, it will likely return in Summer 2015.
