American Horror Story actress Kathy Bates knows who she'll be playing in the highly anticipated Freak Show season, but she is not as forthcoming as fellow co-star Sarah Paulson.

Bates spoke with PopSugar over the weekend about her upcoming character in Freak Show, the fourth installment of American Horror Story, revealing that she knows what her character looks like and a few other details.

"It's in the late 1950s in Jupiter, Fla., and I know what my character looks like, but I don't know anything else about her," she admitted. "In fact, I've just gone to costume fittings, and we're still developing the character. I haven't seen the script yet, and we start shooting in the middle of July, so time's a-wastin'!"

Everything Known So Far About American Horror Story: Freak Show

The actress, who won an Oscar for her borderline psychotic role in 1990's Misery, said that she was surprised when Paulson revealed via Twitter that she would be playing a two-headed character in the new season.

"I mean, I'm surprised that Sarah Paulson came out with that she has two heads. I was like, 'What?!'" she said. "But I think it's [showrunner] Ryan [Murphy] who disseminates that information when and where he wants to. I know he's talked about the fact that we're a freak show, and we're sort of in the last days of the freak show."

A few details about Bates' character have been revealed previously, including the fact that she will be playing one of the "freaks" in the freak show, which is owned by Jessica Lange's character. Additionally, actor Michael Chiklis is set to play Bates' ex-husband in addition to Evan Peters' character's father. It is not known if this means that Peters' character is Bates' son.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres in October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date.
