'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Premiere: Important Characters Could Be Killed Off, Julian Fellowes Weighs In On Rumors [VIDEO]
Despite any reports saying that no main characters will die on Downton Abbey, the series creator gave a hint that he might have some death plans up his sleeve after all.
Series Could End After The Fifth Season
On Thursday, The Telegraph posted an interview with creator Julian Fellowes, who responded to something that one of the actresses said. Lesley Nicol, who plays Mrs. Patmore on the series, reportedly mentioned that no main characters would die.
Unfortunately, Nicol might be wrong.
Lady Edith To Face Consequences After Affair?
"That's all you know," Fellowes said when he was asked if Nicol's words were true. "You see I only finished the script on Tuesday."
This strikes some curiosity on what the creator has in store for next season. Considering that other characters have surprisingly died, including Lady Sybill and Matthew Crawley, Fellowes may not be afraid to shock audiences again.
The creator mentioned that if an actor plans to leave the series, then writing them out is pretty much his only option.
"People don't understand that we're not in control of that kind of stuff, if an actor wants to leave the show," Fellowes said. "What I'm always rather touched by is the way these people become real to the audience."
Nicol recently gave the impression to Mirror that the series might go off the air soon since Fellowes seems to have a lot on his plate right now.
"It only has one writer in Julian Fellowes," the actress said. "It's very different to shows in America where they have teams of writers. One day they will decide to stop it."
Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere sometime this year on PBS.
