Emily, Bachelorette 2012, Demanded $750K Payday But was Turned Down
Emily Maynard initially demanded $750,000 from ABC to star in "The Bachelorette" 2012 but producers offered less than half the amount.
The latest claim by a source close to Maynard echoes previous reports that Maynard became a "diva."
"Emily told [producers] she wanted $750,000," a source close to Maynard told Us Weekly. "They said no way, but she settled for something higher than $100,000, probably around $150,000."
"She knew she was the star, so she became a bit of a diva," the source told the magazine.
Maynard, 26 is ten days away from wrapping up "The Bachelorette." But the single mom apparently doesn't want to leave the spotlight and is planning to land a job as a journalist or host of some TV show.
"She's using The Bachelorette as a stepping stone to be a reporter or host," a show source told Us Weekly.
"Emily wants to be famous," another source told the magazine.
Despite the sweet and humble image she portrays on "The Bachelorette," her old friends have claimed that she is after the fame.
"Emily has let her fame go to her head," a source from the NASCAR community told Radaronline.com.
Maynard dated NASCAR driver Ricky Hendricks who died in an airplane accident and had his daughter Ricki, 6.
“She is exploiting herself and her family for fame,” the source said.
The NASCAR community has reportedly distanced from Maynard because they think her decision to join "The Bachelorette" was disrespectful of her former partner.
“She is just trying to be famous and by making the choice to go on that show she isn’t respecting Ricky or his family,” the source told Radaronline.com
“None of Ricky’s family or friends have been on the show. All of his friends are famous race car drivers and the producers wanted Emily to have some of his friends on the show but they refused because they didn’t want to associate with her."
