Once Upon a Time co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz revealed some new details about the upcoming Frozen arc recently, including info on Elsa possibly getting a love interest and the status of Elizabeth Mitchell's character.

Kitsis and Horowitz spoke with Entertainment Weekly this week about the inclusion of Frozen characters Elsa (played by Georgina Haig), Anna (Elizabeth Lail) and Kristoff (Scott Michael Foster). Elsa did not have a love interest in the Frozen movie, and fans shouldn't necessarily expect her to in Once Upon a Time either.

"What's interesting to us about Elsa is not who she falls in love with. Our show has always been about family." Kitsis explained. "we're not interested in Elsa meeting someone, we're interested in exploring her as a person, like we have with Regina [Lana Parrilla] the past few years."

Once Upon a Time Frozen Spinoff Show Could Happen Someday

Horowitz quipped that they had no intention of putting Elsa on "match.com."

While Frozen fans can expect Elsa, Anna and Kristoff to appear in the show's fourth season, one fan favorite character who will be missing is Olaf, the snowman.

"It wouldn't fit and it's so beautiful, his story in the movie," Horowitz said. "The story we want to tell doesn't involve trying to expand upon that, nor do we think it should."

Meanwhile, the casting of Mitchell has caused much speculation about who she will be playing. Fans are suggesting that she could be playing Elsa and Anna's mother, or possibly playing the original Snow Queen.

Kitsis revealed that she will be playing one of those two things. Horowitz added that her character is set to be connected to the world of Arendelle as well as Storybrooke.

Once Upon a Time Season 4 is set to have its premiere on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
