'Daredevil' Netflix Series News: 'True Blood' Star Cast As Female Lead Karen Page Opposite Charlie Cox [VIDEO]
HBO's True Blood is coming to an end after this season, but one of its cast members has scored a nice role in its wake.
According to a post by Entertainment Weekly on Thursday, Deborah Ann Woll has been cast as Karen Page for Marvel's Daredevil series, which is coming to Netflix in 2015.
Daredevil is not one of the more popular Marvel characters, and the movie starring Ben Affleck was not terribly successful when it came out, but Marvel has really made a huge splash since then, both on the big screen and on television, where they have Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and where they soon will also have the show Agent Carter, based on the character from Captain America.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 News
Woll, who plays Jessica Hamby on True Blood, is playing the female lead in Karen Page. The character is the longest running love interest of Daredevil's alter ego Matt Murdock in the comics, having been introduced in the first issue, but she was not really in the film. Her role will obviously be bigger in the series, unless the folks working on the show have a strange sense of what constitutes a female lead.
Charlie Cox, who had a role on HBO's Boardwalk Empire, is playing Daredevil, the blind superhero who has heightened senses, and Vincent D'Onofrio and Rosario Dawson both have roles as well, with the former portraying the main villain Kingpin, with Dawson's role currently a mystery. This is a nice get for Woll, given the likely size of the role, and the popularity of the Marvel Universe.
