Cote de Pablo is coming back to CBS in 2015, but to the dismay of many fans, it's not for NCIS.

Executive Producer Gary Glasberg's Open Letter To Fans

The 34-year-old actress landed a role on a new four-hour miniseries, The Dovekeepers, with executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett.

De Pablo will star as Shirah, a "sensual, mysterious and fiercely independent single mother with uncanny insights and a quiet and mysterious power," according to CBS.

Cote de Pablo Talks About Her Decision To Leave NCIS

"We are thrilled to have Cote de Pablo starring in The Dovekeepers," Downey said in a statement. "Her talent, strength and beauty will light up the screen in the important role of Shirah."

While the new gig is great news for de Pablo, many of her NCIS fans still want her back on the show. One wrote on Twitter, "is Cote de Pablo ever gonna come back even as just a guest star.... as Mrs. DiNozzo?"

Yet, there's no hard feelings between NCIS executives and the actress. "We've been saying it all along - we're thrilled that this Dovekeepers project has come up for her," showrunner Gary Glasberg recently told TVLine.com.

This is the first TV role for the actress since she unexpectedly departed from NCIS last year. De Pablo played agent Ziva David for eight seasons and her character, which debuted during season 3, had been a crucial part of the investigative team led by Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Tony DiNozzo.

During Ziva's emotional goodbye last October, Tony attempted to make her stay, but she refused. "Listen you can bag groceries for all I care, just come home. I just want you to come home with me," a teary-eyed Tony told her. "I know it's hard and I know you want to change. I can change with you. I'm fighting for you Ziva."
